Kalapawai Cafe and Deli is a restaurant in Kailua a city in Oahu. They are open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. If you don't have time to dine in you can get food to go from their deli. In the evening it's a quiet place perfect for a romantic dinner. The have a small wine bar and coffee bar.

We only made it over there for dinner. I had the lemon risotto, which was good and expensive. I think most of the dinner menu is pricey. It's much cheaper for lunch. I would only go back for lunch, because of the cost.

We finished our dinner off with a delicious piece of white macadamia nut pie with ice cream. It's a lot like pecan pie (my most favorite pie). Their version was made with macadamia nuts instead of pecans and it was GOOD.

The Food Company - Kailua, Hawaii

The Food Company is open for lunch and dinner. We had dinner there and if we had been there sooner we would have eaten there several times.

They are not open on Sunday evenings.

Next door is there other upscale restaurant. It is more on the high end and has a different menu. It would be better for a date.

They are known for their delicious Kailua plate lunches and dinners. This was one of the cheapest places we ate the entire time we were in Hawaii.

My husband ordered some kind of fish roll. I can't remember what it was called. He said he didn't like it, but he ate the whole thing!

I ordered the NY Strip and it was fantastic and it came with large fried shrimp. Both were seasoned so good and it only cost about $12.

This place should definitely be on your list of places to eat in Kailua.

Disney's Aulani resort hot tub and lazy river

Disney's Aulani resort
Disney's Aulani resort
Disney Aulani resort is on the west side of Oahu.

We decide the best way to review the hot tub was to actually sneak get in. After trying it out, I would give it two thumbs up. It's a layered hot tub. The top hot tub has a waterfall flowing into the lower one.

Cinnamon's Restaurant - Best Breakfast in Oahu

Are you ready to have a breakfast that will blow your flip flops off?

Cinnamon's Restaurant on the island of Oahu is one of the best breakfast restaurants I've ever been to. It's located in Kailua and I think it's worth the drive up there! They offer 15% off to military personal Monday - Friday with the coupon on their website.

We started our meal with a cup of coffee. Cinnamon's has their own special coffee blend made from Hawaiian coffee farms; 25% Kona and 25% Kaua'i. They also have coconut syrup! I'll admit I poured some of that coconut syrup in my coffee and it was delicious.

Their Crab Cake eggs Benedict with spinach and tomato were beyond good.

If you don't think you can eat that much food you do have the option of only getting one egg benedict instead of two.

Their red velvet pancakes are so good, you have to order them. Even if your eating something else, get them on the side.

The Guava pancakes are just as good as the red velvet. I would not be able to make a choice between the two. Next time we go I think we will be eating nothing but pancakes.

This is the frittata with artichokes, olives, and onions. It was good, but compared to the pancakes......
The same could be said for their omelettes, they're good, but not compared to the pancakes!

Military Lodging at Joint Base Pearl Harbor - Hickam

Where can you stay for $55 a night in Hawaii? On a military base of course!

I met up with my husband on his last military tdy, which just happened to be Hawaii. (Yes, I always show up on the really good tdy's!) He was staying on Joint Base Pearl Harbor - Hickam on the Pearl side. You could easily walk over to the Pearl Harbor Memorial from here.

The room had one bed, a chair and a desk. The bathroom had a shower only. The bed was great. I have never actually sleep on a bed at a military lodge that was any good until this trip.

Wifi was available and free.

The rooms have a Keurig B145 OfficePRO Brewing System and they provide tons of coffee pods for it. There was a little fridge and a microwave too.

Also, within walking distance was a full shoppette, McDonalds, Subway, Taco Del Mar, tennis courts, and the brand new gym.

Beach Cabins at Bellows AFB

One of the many military lodgings available in Oahu, Hawaii is Bellows AFB. It's not a five star military resort like the Hale Koa, but it does have it's very own private beach! That was the draw for us. To stay on the beach, in Hawaii, for cheap, and avoid the crowd. Our cabin was a two bedroom and had one bathroom. The cabin was right on the beach on Turtle Cove. Here are some pictures of our cabin.

Bali Hai resort in Kauai Hawaii

On our family vacation to Hawaii we stayed at the Bali Hai resort in Princeville on the island of Kauai. The north side of the island.  It was a great place. If you follow that link you can get more info on it. I am posting pictures that I took of the place and  the room we stayed in.  Although it was very nice, it certainly does not look like the pictures on their website.

The grounds were well kept and the pool was in the middle of the property so it was easily walked to.  It really was not within walking distance of anything else.  You will have to have a rental car to stay here.

This is a picture of the living room.  The couch did not make into a bed.  There was a good size kitchen with everything you might need and a small dining area.

The 2nd bedroom had two twin beds and a full bathroom.  The mater bedroom was big and had a huge bathroom with a jacuzzi tub.

The pool was zero entry and has a sand bottom.  The sand is rough.

The pool was a good size, but the hot tub was small and not that hot.

If we went back we would gladly stay here again, if we could not find something somewhere else on the island.  I think Princeville is too far from Poipu Beach and the west side of the island.  I would rather stay in Poipu or the west side, because those areas are much warmer.
