Enchanted Tales with Belle at Disney World

Have you heard about the new guest experience at Disney World?
Enchanted Tales with Belle is a new attraction in Fantasyland that is best described as a guest experience, because it isn't a ride, but it's not a regular character encounter either. To be honest until I went and actually experienced it my self I didn't really "get it".

You start out in line outside of the house Belle grew up in. Then you go inside for a "tour". Someone points out random stuff in the room and if your like me, you will wonder, "Is this it?". Finally they start telling you about this special mirror given to Belle from Beast. As they explain it the mirror begins to transform into a magical doorway into Beasts castle.
Enchanted Tales with Belle
Once inside you are greeted by Madam Wardrobe. She explains that we are going to surprise Belle by acting out the story of how she fell in love with the Beast. At this point about 10 guests are picked to act out different parts of the story.

Lumiere greets us in the next room and calls out to Belle. When she comes in, we surprise her with the story. My son was picked to play Beast and it was adorable. My husband got picked to play Maurice, which was hilarious, but I promised no public pictures of this.
Afterwards there was time to get photos of them with Belle. Everyone left with a bookmark from her.

If your child is dressed up in a Storybook Belle Costume then they will get a ton of attention from Belle and remember if you are going to have your child dress up, consider buying the costumes before going into the park. It will save you tons of money.

Disney Cruise ship "Horn Off"

One of the funniest moments on the Disney Fantasy cruise was when the Disney Dream pulled up at Castaway Cay and the two ships begin to play their horns back and forth. This video is of their "Horn Off" it went on for five minutes, but this video is just a minute or so.

Pirate Show and Fireworks aboard the Disney Fantasy

This video is of one of the shows you can see while on your Disney Fantasy cruise, a pirate show. One of the nights you are on board they'll have a pirate show where Captain Jack Sparrow fights off the enemies. Captain Jack will at one point set off a fireworks show.

It's an elaborate show that goes on for quite a while. You can see it from multiple places on the ship. I think the best place to see it is on the right hand side of the stage up on the balcony. You can see different view points in the video to give you an idea of where you might like to stand/sit.

Flower and Garden Festival at Epcot

One of the best times to go to Epcot is during their annual Flower and Garden festival that takes place each spring. Everywhere you look the topiary has come to life as Disney characters.

During the Flower and Garden Festival at Epcot, Disney World places 3 or 4 playgrounds around Epcot. Our favorite Epcot playground is the weeblos playground. It can usually be found at the entrance to the Worlds.

Also, during the flower and garden festival they have out a butterfly garden. You walk through one side and then pop out in fairy garden. During this time they also have special concerts and educational displays.

All Around Disneyland

Disneyland is a huge place.  Much larger then I thought it was going to be.  Here are a few photos from our time in Disneyland.

Everyone is excited to get into the park and we are finally on the monorail.  The monorail is right outside our hotel, Disneyland Hotel.  The kids have been killing time inside the Lego store while I run around like a crazy person trying to figure out what to do with the military ticket I bought.  Check out my article on how to redeem Disneyland military tickets and where to get them over at Travelingmom.com.  It is not the same process they have at Disney World.

Here in this picture you can see the monorail tracks, the Matterhorn ride in the back ground, and a yellow submarine under the tracks in the water.  That yellow submarine is part of the Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage ride and the first ride we went on.  Once on the submarine went went under the water in search of Nemo.  Here are a few photos I took on the ride.

No trip to Disney is complete until we have defeated the evil Emperor Zurg.  Everyone was happy when we discovered that the Buzz Light Year Astro Blaster is at Disneyland too.  (I thought it was better than they one at Disney World.)

Autopia was a major hit with my four year old.  He not only was tall enough to ride, he was allowed to drive!  He was an awful driver and I had to control the gas pedal, but he was ecstatic the whole time!

Here is my oldest on the Matterhorn Bobsleds.  This hands down was our favorite ride.  Grandma even loved it!  Best of all was that my 4 year old could ride it.

Oh and here is a picture in front of a waterfall in California Adventure.  What a great picture spot.

Baby's 1st Hair Cut at Magic Kingdom - Disney World

I can't think of any place better to get Baby's 1st  Haircut than Disney World.

Getting our son's first hair cut at the barber shop in Main Street USA at the Magic Kingdom was awesome.  Even though we had to stand in line for a long time it was worth it.  (Tips for the line)
To keep the kids from moving all over the place they stick stickers all over the smock and their clothes.  The kids focus on moving around or taking off the stickers.

She spent a fair amount of time with us and did not rush us at all.

When they were done they gave him little Mickey ears to wear. On the back of the Mickey ears it says 1st Haircut.  They also gave him a keepsake certificate and wrapped his hair up for me to keep.  All of this for only $14!

eating CHEAP at Disney World

Eating at Disney World can be very expensive. Keep in mind you can take in food. We usually take in lots of snacks, bottled water, Gatorade and juice boxes. We also take lunchables for the kids.  You can not bring in anything that is in a glass container.  You can bring in a soft sided cooler, but not a hard sided one.  If you go to the water parks you can take in a hard sided container.

Cheap places to eat at Disney World:

Epcot - There is a place in France called Boulangerie Patisserie where you can get a ham and cheese croissant for 3.25. These are so good and large. They will even heat it up if you like!

Magic Kingdom - At Cosmic Rays you can order a double cheeseburger and an extra bun. You can make two hamburgers. You can load it with as much extras as you want at the condiments bar.  Their free condiment bar consists of lettuce, tomato, pickles, onions, sauteed onions, and sauteed mushrooms.

At Tortuga Tavern you can order a taco salad, burrito, or nachos and load them up at the free condiment bar. You can essentially make the meals much larger that way you order less meals.

Disney Studios - At Backlot Express you can order a double cheese burger and an extra bun kit (bun, tomato, lettuce) for less than $2 and then make two hamburgers.

Typhoon Lagoon at Disney World

I am a huge fan of waterparks and I must say Disney World's Typhoon Lagoon did not disappoint.

  • They had an awesome kiddie waterpark, complete with sand to play in.  There is a large wave pool, body slides, snorkeling, a lazy river, tube slides and more.
  • You can bring your own life jackets for the kids, but there is really no need to, because they offer kids life jackets for free.  You pick them up in the same area you would get a locker.
  • You can bring in a cooler.  Unlike the other Disney parks where you can only bring in soft sided coolers, there are no restrictions on them here.  We took in a large hard sided cooler filled with food, because we knew we were be there all day.
  • We also brought in the stroller for the baby to take his nap in.  We found a spot in the sand near the kiddie area and set up for the day!

Kid's area at Typhoon Lagoon
Includes a large ship where you can spray water at people, tunnels, and tube slides just for kids, tiny slides on a splash pad and soft things to climb on.

Snorkel Zone at Typhoon Lagoon
Something unique that I had never seen at a water park, was the snorkeling area.  You could check out goggles for free.  The water is quite cold, because there are sting rays and sharks in there!
This is a picture of the bottom of one of the bigger tube slides.
