I know first hand how frustrating it can be to find a sitter when you are on a family vacation.  We are stationed far away from family, so when we vacation the kids go with us.  Rarely will a hotel recommend a sitter, because of liability issues, and it can be very time consuming to find one yourself.  Luckily there are a few businesses that help with this.

Have your heard about Care.com? I have been using it since about November and it has worked well for me. You can place an ad for a nanny and have people respond to you or you can search through the nanny ads and find some you like and contact them. This is great when you travel as a family and the parent's need a night out.  They also have people on there that offer senior care, pet care, tutoring, housekeeping and special needs care. Everyone listed on this site has passed a background check. Right now they are offering there site free for the weekend.
