Wooden Shoe Tulip Festival - Woodburn, OR

Tulip Festival OR
Tulip Festival OR

The annual Tulip Festival at Wooden Shoe Tulip Farm  in Woodburn, Oregon, happens every year from late March through early May. Woodburn is located south of Portland, Oregon.

This past year we went on opening day. It's not always a good idea to go that early, because not all the tulips have started to bloom. This year it had been warm and we were in the area, so we figured it was worth a shot. Last year I stopped by the day before opening day and there were no tulips.

Check the field report on their website before you drive all the way out there.

There is a $5 per car entry fee. Once you've enter you can roam around the tulip fields for no additional charge. The admission fee also included some games for kids and the kid play areas.

They have vendors selling crafts and food. They also had a zipline, bounce house, and jumping area all for an additional charge.

Out in the tulip fields is a great place to take a family photo or some pictures of your kids.

My oldest son would be so mad if he knew I had posted this photo. Ha!

Here are two of the areas set up for kids to play. There were at least two other play areas.

Bridgeport Brew Pub - Portland, Oregon

Bridgeport BreweryBridgeport Brewery is a family friendly brew pub in Portland, Oregon.

Last week we had dinner there. It's in the Northwest part of the Pearl District. It didn't look like much from the outside of the building, but it was cool inside. They've done a great job with the space.
Pearl DistrictWe were not that impressed with the beer here. We only tried two of them and both were fairly bitter. The food, however, was absolutely fantastic. This was not your typical brew pub food. I will definitely eat here again.

Bridgeport Brewery

blue heron beer bratwurst plate $11.25
bacon-braised cabbage, cheese + chive spätzle, sweet hot apple mustard + russian beet salad

This is what I ordered and it was excellent.

 the steel $14

house-made italian sausage, pepperoni, mushrooms, black olives, sliced red onion, green peppers, mozzarella + organic red sauce

Unfortunately, they do not offer a kids menu. We ordered the kids a pizza to split and it was enough to feed all three of them.

jordan’s pork chile verde $7.5
pork shoulder braised with tomatillo, onions + peppers, with white beans, sour cream + a warm flour tortilla

This was the best dish we ordered and I highly recommend it.

I did not try this sandwich, but our friend said it was the best chicken sandwich he had ever had.

5 Father's Day Gift Ideas

Father's Day Gift Ideas

Custom Sign

Have a custom sign made for their office. Last year I decided to have a custom sign made for my husband for his office. I wasn't sure if he would put it in our home office or take it to work. He took it to work, so I feel like I did good. My husband flies the F-15 and I had an F-15 sticker that was suppose to be a bumper sticker. I sent the sticker to Holly at All My Goodness explained what I wanted and this is what she created. She is amazingly talented and you can find her over at the Etsy shop All My Goodness!

Custom Photo

The other gift we gave him was this 8x10 collage. I took the kids to the park and took pictures of them making letters with their bodies. Then I used Shutterfly to create the collage. He took this to the office too!

Electronic Gifts

You really can't go wrong with some sort of electronics gift or accessory for an electronic.

Cell Phone Holder for the Car

I recently got one of these for my car and absolutely love it. It adjusts for any size phone and rotates sideways. I think it makes a great gift. I went ahead and added this link to the exact one I have, because it is less than what I paid for mine at Marshalls. There are a bunch to choose from on Amazon.

Fitbit Flex Wireless Activity + Sleep Wristband, Black

This wristband does all kinds of cool stuff and it's about $50 cheaper then the others on the market. I've been looking into these for a while and after asking a couple of friends wearing similar devices and talking to an electronics guru, I narrowed my choices down to this one. It does everything in one device.

  •  It tracks steps, distance, calories burned and active minutes, and  monitors how long and well you sleep! Wakes you (and not your partner) with a silent wake alarm!

Travel Charger

This is a sleek travel charger with a usb port. It lets you charge any device that uses a usb port anywhere. My sons gymnastics coach from Florida came to visit and he had one of these. While our phones ran down his was charging up.
