Paddle boarding in Roatan, Honduras

Roatan Sights and Attractions invited us to come out and paddle board with Steve's Paddle Shack over in West End of Roatan., Honduras. 

Paddle boarding is surprisingly easy. My four year old was too small, but the boards are so steady that he sat on the front while my husband paddled. Our ten and seven year old both learned and had fun.
My balance is not great, but I was still able to do it. It's quite a work out.
Once we were done we headed over to a nearby baleada restaurant that had been recommended to us Chapi Catrachas.  They were wonderful, especially the avocado baleadas!

This was a fire show we got to see while we were on vacation in Roatan, Honduras. I was blown away by how good they were.  Best of all it was a free show at the restaurant we were eating at, Thirsty Turtle.

The many beds of Honduras

Spending time in Honduras has been quite the family adventure. We have experienced all kinds of new things including some interesting beds.

At Las Sirenas in Roatan, Honduras we stayed in a canopy bed complete with all the bells and whistles of white canopy bedding. It felt very exotic! I had never stayed in a canopy bed before. I definately see the appeal. It was a real shame you couldn't see the ocean from the bed, but the bedroom was all the way in the back of the condo!

Right now we are staying at Infinity Bay in Roatan, Honduras and the bed has palm tree bedding. It even has palm trees carved into the wood on the bed posts, it is so high off the ground I have to jump to get in it. It's very tropical and makes me want to change our bedroom at home into palm tree bedding. Bring a little of the tropical environment home to the desert.

Staying on base wasn't quite as glamorous. We were left sticking our kids on an air mattress complete with an air mattress frame. Did you know they made frames for air mattresses? I didn't, but have the frame did make it seem more like a real bed. Maybe I should get a frame for out one at home for when we have guests! The air mattress was actually nicer than the bed we had, seen below.

As I have mention, my husband is deployed.  I hadn't mentioned where he was because I wasn't sure if it was okay to talk about.  Turns out I can talk about it, so I thought I would share a few of the picture he sent me from his visit to Utila Island which is one of Honduras's Bay islands.  He is not deployed to this island, but was lucky enough to take a little weekend trip there. 

He and 4 other guys flew on this tiny little plane over to the island.  I don't think I personally would have been able to work up the courage to fly on a plane this small, but I hate flying.

He stayed at a dive center while he got his scuba certification.  The stay was included in the price of the lessons.  Apparently they had quite the chef here preparing delicious meals for them everyday too.  I will have to get the name of the dive school from my husband since I can't remember it!

Here he is a hammock. As you can see he is really suffering on his deployment.  Mean while I am stuck with three kids back home dealing with all the fun that comes along with that! NOT RIGHT!
