Notre Dame Cathedral - Paris, France

The Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris, France was stunning.  The stain glass windows were beautiful as were the many paintings.  They have kept the cathedral in great condition.

This picture is a little blurry, but I wanted to show the date 1163!

It is free admission to get in.  Although there was a huge line to get in when I went the lined moved quickly.

Comayagua Cathedral in Central Park - Honduras

Comayagua, Honduras is the home to multiple historic places and full of Spanish architecture.  On our Honduras family adventure the place we are living is just outside of Comayagua.  We went to the pitiful mall and then to this beautiful plaza.

Pictured here is the Comayagua Cathedral, built during the colonial era in Honduras. It was inaugurated on December 8, 1711.

Vatican

Here are some pictures we took from the very top of the Vatican. These pictures make Rome look very green, but I thought Rome was dry and brown.

This picture is taken from inside the top of the Vatican.  Be sure to check out the other pictures I took inside the Vatican.

more pictures of the Vatican

On day two of our trip to Rome we climbed all the way to the top of the Vatican. There was an elevator that would take you up the first 300 stairs or so, but the line was long and we thought we would just climb them and not wait. Well, that was a mistake! After we got done climbing the first 300 we had about 600+ more to go. So, if there is a line when you go for the elevator, be sure to wait in it. It will be well worth the time!
This picture is of a mosiac inside the Vatican.  It is just one of many.

I thought it was pretty cool that they let you go out here.  Just hours before we were staring up at these statues while we waited in line.  Pictures of the statues from the Vatican courtyard.

The Vatican - Vatican City

I have a lot of pictures of the Vatican and I plan to post almost all of them. Here are the first few I took while waiting in line outside the Vatican.  Be prepared, the lines are horrible. I read in a couple of books tips on how to avoid the lines, I found all tips to be false. After trying multiple methods we humbled ourselves and got in line like everyone else. Also, after speaking to several American tourists who paid for tours to skip the line, we learned they also got to stand in line.

The Vatican is an amazing place and the pictures speak for themselves. If you are planning a trip I would recommend brushing up on some Catholic history specifically stories about the various Saints.

Don't forget to check back soon to see pictures from inside the Vatican!

Church in Rome

I actually don't remember this church at all. Isn't that terrible, but I must say it looks awesome in the pictures. There are churches everywhere so I guess they all started running together after a while. I wish I knew more Catholic history, it would have helped me understand alot of the paintings and symbolism.Rome Italy
