Disney World’s Yacht Club Resort

 Yacht Club at Disney World

Yacht Club at Disney World

The Yacht Club at Disney World is in a prime location along the Boardwalk and just a short walk from Epcot. Here you will find rooms that can accommodate families of five and a 3 acre water park.

We loved staying here for multiple reasons, but the number one had to be the killer location. The Boardwalk is an awesome place to hang out and it's even more fun to stay right there. I think from now on we will always stay in one of the hotels along the Boardwalk. Our room was nice and we had plenty of room. There was nothing particularly striking about the room we stayed in.

The best part of staying at a Disney Resort is the extra magic hours at the theme parks. It's nice to only be in the parks with other Disney hotel guests. The lines are much shorter and for the most part there are no lines.

The second best part of staying at this particular resort is the pool. There's multiple pools, a lazy river, a large body slide coming off of a pirate ship, a beach, and more. You could just stay at this hotel and skip doing the theme parks if you wanted to. The pool will keep your kids busy all day.

We had a regular room with two beds. Our room was nice, but I would rather have had a room with the couch. Since we did not get a room with a couch the resort provided a roll-out bed. Yacht Club at Disney World

We almost had a view. I did not even think about asking for a room with a view. Next time I'll ask.

Epcot’s Flower and Garden festival is one of the best times to visit Epcot. Each spring during the festival they bring out topiary that they’ve spent years growing and grooming into Disney Characters. This year I was only at Epcot at night and my pictures didn't come out that great. So, I've included a few from Inside the Magic that they shared publicly.

 IMG_2227
At night Epcot puts on a 12 minute long nightly show called IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth.
The show includes music, fireworks, water effects, a massive globe,

A 350,000 pound globe comes out over the water.

IMG_2238For those of you wondering if parts of this show can be seen from outside of Epcot, the answer is yes. If you are out in the boardwalk area you will see a lot of the fireworks.

Beaches and Cream Soda Shop - A Disney World Restaurant

The Kitchen Sink, Disney World's largest dessert!

The Kitchen Sink at Beaches and Cream Soda Shop at Disney World

Beaches and Cream Soda Shop is a small restaurant in the Beach Resort at Disney World along the
Boardwalk outside of Epcot. It's a great place to have a hotdog or burger and ice cream. Often times there is a wait to be seated, but we went late at night around 9 PM and were seated right way. We did not have a reservation. We sat out on the patio outside overlooking the pool. Next time I would sit inside, it seemed way more exciting inside.

We went here for ice cream one night and ordered the Kitchen Sink. They literally serve your serve your 10 scoops of ice cream and every topping they have in a little metal kitchen sink. Even with all five of us eating we couldn't finish it!

It cost $26.99 which may seem like a lot, but when you can feed a family of 5-8 people with it, it's actually an affordable option. It's probably cheaper than buying 8 people individual ice creams.

I highly recommend taking your kids here to get the kitchen sink. My kids having stop talking about it and it's been well over a month since we were there. I think they will always have memories of the lights  and sirens going off when they bring it out and the funny announcement they make about the monstrous dessert.

You should have seen my kids’ faces when they saw it! If I had known ahead of time about the production they make when serving it and how my kids were going to react I would have videotaped it!

FYI - As an added bonus there is an arcade next door and it's very reasonable.

Flower and Garden Festival at Epcot

One of the best times to go to Epcot is during their annual Flower and Garden festival that takes place each spring. Everywhere you look the topiary has come to life as Disney characters.

During the Flower and Garden Festival at Epcot, Disney World places 3 or 4 playgrounds around Epcot. Our favorite Epcot playground is the weeblos playground. It can usually be found at the entrance to the Worlds.

Also, during the flower and garden festival they have out a butterfly garden. You walk through one side and then pop out in fairy garden. During this time they also have special concerts and educational displays.
