Bring your own food into Disney World

Did you know that you are allowed to bring food into all the Disney Parks. We were unsure about this until we ask someone in the park that worked there.  Here's what you need to know about taking food into Disney.

  • Soft sided coolers are allowed in Disney Parks
  • Hard sided coolers are allowed in Disney water parks only
  • No glass allowed
  • There is a Super Wal-Mart and a Super Target near Disney World where you can get whatever you need
  • All rooms at Disney have a small fringe, microwave, and coffee maker.
Here are some of the food items we've packed and taken into the Disney parks with us.

Cold Items:Grapes
Yogurt sticks
Cheese sticks
Sodas
Juice boxes
Lunchables
Premade sandwiches
Fruit cups
Applesauce
Carrots

Room Temperature
Crackers
Fruit and nut mix
Granola bars
Bananas
Apples
Pop tarts
Fruit snacks
Cookies
Goldfish
Pretzels
Chips

Other random items
  • Reusable coffee mug filled with coffee
  • Drinks mixes – You can refill your water bottles all over any of these parks, but sometimes the water doesn’t taste good.  The water at the Magic Kingdom tastes especially bad.  We refill and then mix in a drink flavor packets and the problem is solved. (Any of the restaurants will give you a glass of water for free.)

Typhoon Lagoon at Disney World

I am a huge fan of waterparks and I must say Disney World's Typhoon Lagoon did not disappoint.

  • They had an awesome kiddie waterpark, complete with sand to play in.  There is a large wave pool, body slides, snorkeling, a lazy river, tube slides and more.
  • You can bring your own life jackets for the kids, but there is really no need to, because they offer kids life jackets for free.  You pick them up in the same area you would get a locker.
  • You can bring in a cooler.  Unlike the other Disney parks where you can only bring in soft sided coolers, there are no restrictions on them here.  We took in a large hard sided cooler filled with food, because we knew we were be there all day.
  • We also brought in the stroller for the baby to take his nap in.  We found a spot in the sand near the kiddie area and set up for the day!

Kid's area at Typhoon Lagoon
Includes a large ship where you can spray water at people, tunnels, and tube slides just for kids, tiny slides on a splash pad and soft things to climb on.

Snorkel Zone at Typhoon Lagoon
Something unique that I had never seen at a water park, was the snorkeling area.  You could check out goggles for free.  The water is quite cold, because there are sting rays and sharks in there!
This is a picture of the bottom of one of the bigger tube slides.

Free Disney Tickets!

Give a Day. Get a Disney Day.
September 29, 2009 | Leigh Harper

We announced an exciting new partnership with Disney Parks this morning on Good Morning America. Disney Parks is recognizing families and individuals who volunteer their time to help improve communities by giving them a free one-day ticket to a Disney theme park.

Those in Canada, Puerto Rico or the United States who volunteer their time in service to a participating organization beginning on Jan. 1, 2010, will receive a free one-day admission ticket to a Disney theme park at either Walt Disney World Resort in Lake Buena Vista, Fla., or Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, Calif.

The new program is being celebrated today with a five-city launch and large volunteer projects led by L.A. Works, Chicago Cares, HandsOn Atlanta, HandsOn Miami and Volunteer Canada. HandsOn Network will help people find volunteer projects that align with their interests and lifestyles.

To find out how to participate, visit: www.handsonnetwork.org/disney
